We created a podcast as part of a team of three, where we were tasked with producing an episode focused on an inspirational designer. We chose Robert Ballagh, one of Ireland’s most well‑known visual artists and designers. His work can be seen in galleries as well as on stamps, posters, and even Irish banknotes. What makes Ballagh particularly interesting from a design culture perspective is the way he combines strong visual design with powerful social and political messages. Born in Dublin in 1943, Ballagh originally studied architecture before moving into art and design. This background has had a strong influence on his work, which often shows a clear sense of structure, balance, and composition.
Making the podcast helped me learn how to use both audio hardware and software. At the beginning, setting up the equipment was difficult, especially understanding how to use the microphones and record properly. However, after some practice, I began to understand how everything worked. Learning to use the editing software also helped improve the final recording. Overall, the process made me more confident and helped me develop new technical skills.
